Flute Wood: Amboyna Burl

Amboyna Burl is a very rare wood from Cambodia. This particular burl was house in a warehouse in Salt Lake City Utah for 12 year before it came to my shop. The burl is of a quality that one would expect to see this in a Rolls Royce. To have a burl of this quality to make flutes from is extremely rare. Unfortunately, when it is gone, it will be gone.

Amboyna Burl has a very characteristic sound that is warm and apealling. The sound is clean yet has character to it that helps to convey emotion. Not only an extremely lovely wood, it is an excellent wood for acousticss.
